Cell Phone Radiation

Description

Overview

Cell phones emit radiofrequency electromagnetic fields. Unlike ionizing radiation, radiofrequency energy does not carry enough energy to directly break chemical bonds or damage DNA. NCI summarizes the evidence as not showing a consistent association between cell phone use and cancer, while acknowledging ongoing study because technologies and usage patterns evolve. The most scientifically grounded cancer discussion is about possible long-term, close-range exposure and unresolved epidemiologic questions, not confirmed direct carcinogenesis.
